The Argo 509 never had an external VFO made for it. I'm not real familiar with
the circuitry, but it might
be possible to adapt the Model 242, made for the Triton, to use with the 509.
It would require putting an
octal accessory socket on the back of the 509, as used on the Triton and doing
some rewiring to get
the right connections. The circuits in the 509 are similar to the Triton I and
II. The 509 just doesn't have
the higher power finals. Might be an interesting conversion, but for someone
with far more expertise
than me.
