Switchcraft makes at least three grades of XL connectors. The cheapies are
poor, the others are very good. The other good connector mfr is Neutrik.
They're the new kid on the block (about 30 years ago), engineering owned and
managed. Very well run. They're quite active on the AES Standards Committee
in a very positive way.
BTW -- I've been an active member of the AES Standards Committee Working
Group on Microphones for nearly ten years. Engineers from all the REAL mic
mfrs participate. I've NEVER seen or heard Bob Heil, or anyone from his
company in those meetings.
