Excellent advice. And, if you have a microphone with a double pole PTT switch,
route the mike audio through that switch and you can leave the mike plugged in.

Since the Omni VI Plus has connections on the rear panel for Audio IN and
Audio OUT, I strongly suggest using the RCA connectors on the rear panel
for the required audio signals to and from the RigBlaster. To this end, I
also suggest putting a 1 k ohm resistor from the Audio IN center pin to
ground at the RCA connector on the rear. There is a 10K series resistor
internal to the radio. This 1 k ohm resistor in conjunction with the
internal 10K R provides the proper load for the device and does allow
attenuation of the audio signal to better suit the input audio requirements.
This assures a much better Signal to Noise ratio of the transmitted signal.
When using the Audio IN on the rear, it is important to disconnect the MIC
from the front panel. This assures that only the data signal is being
transmitted and that "room noises" picked up by the mike do not corrupt or
be transmitted with the data signal.
There is a PTT command input on a RCA connector on the rear or one can
choose to simply use VOX with a very short hang time to handle the RX/TX
switching.
My general rule.........if it isn't a microphone, don't connect it to the
front panel MIC connector. That's why the rear panel connectors are present
and these are better suited for audio and command levels accordingly.
