You said: "no matter what the SWR is" . . . If the SWR is 4:1, the tuner
will not have found a tuned condition, and the "tuned" indicator will not go
on, and the tuner will be disengaged. I don't recall the exact number, but
I believe it has to be below 2:1 SWR to be considered tuned. The Orion's
final amplifier section is designed to handle 2:1 SWR (unlike many other
rigs), so that is not a problem for the Orion. Are you saying yours says
"tuned" regardless of a high SWR? I'm trying to understand whether you're
describing a problem with your rig, or a behavior of the Orion which you
don't agree with.

The "tuned" stays on, on my O2 no matter what the SWR is.
If I press the tune button again it then goes off but I assume that means it
is in by-pass.
