Clark:

The bfo trimmer has been know to cause problems. I beleive it's the 
brown one on the tx/audio board. A counter on the output of the bfo will
tell the story or just a stable receiver with a short wire near the tx
board can easily receive it and check for drift. My trimmer developed a
tendency to jump and a shot of wd-40 cleaned it right up. Give it some
time to dry before calibrating it.
