Is there a clock/calendar in the software? Does it have to have
date/time entered after a power reset? Does it DO anything with date and
time other than display it? If all of these answer to NO, then there is
NO Y2K problem. The only time Y2K is a problem is generally when a
program is checking for validity of a date to pay or allow credit or
when the software is keeping track of maintenance and may shut down when
the last maintenance was too long ago or when the software is figuring
elapsed time for some reason, such as payroll or maintenance reminders.
Most of the Y2K is hype for the benefit of the companies developed to
"cure" it. Some software such as insurance, banks, credit cards, payroll
has potential for problems. I've already had a credit card fail a cash
register because of having a 00 expiration year. But that store had a
second way to read the card and it wasn't bothered.
