A friend of mine bought and received a Pegasus. His call is WA5PJB, Jay
Johnson. Jay says the receiver is very sensitive and very selective. He
says the rig puts out around 100 watts and he is getting very good
signal reports. He bought the radio without a main tuning knob mounted
in a box so he has to use his computer to adjust everything on the
radio. He likes the radio a lot but did say it takes a little getting
used to, using the computer to make adjustments. Jay is in his late 70s
and is no spring chicken. Jay also told me you can download the Pegasus
software from TenTec's web page and play with their "Virtual Radio" to
see how it works. He said you can have a lot of fun doing this.
As I mentioned in a very earlier post, this is no radio I would ever
want to own, but, it appears many will like it and the Pegasus will
probably be a big hit. Jay tells me the price is very attractive, about
a third the cost of a Kachina.
Jay Johnson is not on this reflector, but I would think he would not
mind getting a message from a prospective buyer to answer any questions
you might have. Jay's e-mail address is: josejohn@excite.com
I hope this helps.
