Carl, I sure hope that all those frequencies should have been 3955,
etc., instead of 7955! <:}
BTW, what stations in Florida have rotary beams on 75?
I second your basic thoughts here, but remember that those "nets" are
really gatherings of old friends who have been talking every evening for
years. For most of them, that is *the* social life for them for one
reason or another: health, lack of transport or ability to get out of
the house or whatever.
So, it is understandable that they do not take kindly to some outsider
trying to break into their little circle. Just like a group of folks in
a room having a meeting would not welcome someone sticking their head in
the door and insisting that they stop what they are doing and allow the
newcomer to come in and participate.
I do not advocate a lot of what I hear on 75 - it is a different world
than when I first worked 75 as a 17-year old kid who had just gotten his
Class A in 1947. Back then, I happened to have a fairly deep voice for a
kid and was welcomed into any "net" that I happened to tune in to. Even
after they learned that I was just a kid, my signal and operating
allowed me adult status.
But, times and folks change - even the old farts! And I know, because I
are one!
But, I do not operate 75 anymore . . .
