My experiences with the Langevin clippers were in 1963-1965 and the
product was quite experienced then. At that time I don't think domestic
broadcasters were using it because Leroy May, chief engineer of a Dallas
broadcast station was very interested in borrowing a copy of the
schematic so he could build one.

Probably an early use of punch signal processing was the gal screaming
"Hay Culligan ma-an" that didn't drive the modulation monitors berserk
in the old AM station where I was chief engineer for a short time in
1962, but sure drove the speakers hard. Must have been square waves.
Eventually that extreme processing in commercials was officially
discouraged and the scream became a little more sedate probably 15 years
ago.
