That procedure at Alpha looks good to me. I've been using the AL-
80A with PIN T/R for over 10 years now with the Corsair, Paragon,
Pegasus and Jupiter. That's exactly how I do it on all the rigs except
Corsair. It does not have the keying loop. I do not use the diode
though and see no need for it. The Ten Tec can easily handle the
12 volts or so at a few mA the PIN switch requires. The QSK on this
setup is text book perfect.
Might be a good idea to get a spare pilot light fuse if they still use
those. Once in a blue moon, I key up the rig without having the
amplifier QSK cable plugged in but having the "OPR" switch on. So,
I'm putting 50 to 60 watts into the receive PIN diodes. Ameritron
provided for such foolishness on my part by fusing the receive
diodes. I'm not gonna tell you how many times I've replaced those
lamps but it's more than once! :-)
