Anyone using the 320D? Wonder about your feelings regarding it's quality and functionality vs. other receivers you have used.

I have the RX-350 which is its bigger brother. From my understanding the main difference between the two is in the font end tuned circuits (that is what Ten-Tec techs told me) and some of the firmware. I have had my RX-350 for two years now. I like it in many ways but wish I had kept my NRD-535D which is really a far superior communications receiver (NOT the NRD-545 whcih I bought and promptly sold).

The RX-350 is fascinating as a computer controlled listening experience (ERGO 4 or N4PY's software for example. The software that Ten-Tec furnishes for the RX-320 and the RX-350 is really 'basic' stuff .) and its audio output for International Broadcast stations and SSB is great (once you get use to its somewhat unique but subtle DSP sound). The worst negative for both of these receivers, and the RX-320 is the worst of the two, is there performance when there are strong, nearby AM broadcast stations. Fundamental overload issues abound! I added PAR Electronics BCB filters to help combat this issue. My NRD-535 and NRD-545 did NOT have these problems.

Now recalling that the RX-320D is less than $400 I am not sure you can go wrong. Especially considering the RX-350 is $1200! Now if I had to do it again I would have kept my NRD-535D OR I would buy the Drake R-8B.

On a side note. I have a 33 year old Allied SX-190 which I actually use more than my RX-350. Go figure.
