When you say you could not get the radio to transmit . . .
Do you mean?
1. The rig did not go into transmit mode or
2. The rig clicked over to transmit but audio would not get to the radio.
These are two different issues. My advice on setting the MENU => SSB => TX
Audio Source and checking for the proper channel takes care of #2.
Issue #1 can be in the software settings.
