Very interesting to hear all of the input on the K-3, Orion, etc. Everyone has their agenda on this subject. I certain respect all of the different opinions.

I have been licensed for 50 years as of July and have had untold numbers of rigs over this interval. At one time I was a Collins man and still have a KWM-2A that is immaculate in every respect. My main rig is an Orion I and it does everything that I need though it does have quite a learning curve. I can hear anything on the KWM-2A I can hear on the Orion. Being primarily a DXer I find the Orion best for me. The K3 is too small and I like rigs with analog meters.

I did build the K-1 and it is an excellent transceiver. I told Elecraft that I was very impressed with it.

I might add that the KMW-2A circuits were tweaked by test selecting components using a spectrum analyzer. Though it is old technology with no bells and whistles it is the HOTTEST receiver I have in the shack. New is not necessarily best in all areas.

Many do prefer the K3 or the Flex radio.
