Rhombics do radiate, but I don't think they are the ultimate in antenna 
compared to a stack of modern long boom yagis. At one time W6AM had a 
rosette of a dozen large rhombics taking up 25 acres of land and was a 
big signal on the bands chasing DX. I have enough room at the farm to 
fit those but I won't.
