Can someone please explain how a "roofing" filter differs from the old
fashioned (band pass) IF filter? Or is it just another name for it?
Bill:
It appears to be just another name for it.
Commercial use of this name implies that a filter is low-pass with an upper
cut-off freq. (a roof)
But amateur usage seems to use the "roofing" name as being closer to the
"front end" of the RX....
(a roof over the receiver??)
We had a discussion on this many months ago and we'll just adapt to the new
interpretation... :-)
