Has anyone else had this problem with the TT 777 headset?

I bet the same parts are used on the look-alike HEIL Proset-Elite, and 
also similar sets sold under the brand name DataVideo, like this:

I would check with TT - I doubt this is a widespread problem, but they 
would know better than I.
