No jumper is ever required between TXEN and TXOUT on the Orion and Orion
II. But both keying loops must be enabled from the Orion menu.
Also you key also use AMP KEY out instead of the keying loops if you
don't need QSK. These do not need to be enabled from the menu.
If you have either keying loop enabled but nothing connected between
TXEN and TXOUT, you won't be able to transmit on the Orion.

Barry,
I am saying the radio will key if key loop 2 is turned on or off. key loop 1
will not key the radio if key loop 1 is turned on. If it is off, the radio
will key.
This is with nothing connected to the key loop jacks.
With the radio alone, it will not key at all with key loop 1 turned on.
I realize the older radios need a shorting bar between TXout and TXen.
But, is this the case with the Orion? If so, why does it work when key 2 is
activated?
I am afraid to put a jumper on key loop 1 until I know it’s ok.
thanks,
Mike
Are you saying keying loop #2 works with the amp connected to TX Out2/TX
En2? If not, what is connected to those jacks?

Hi Guys,
I have been dealing with a sick Centurion. Still having problems. I am
going to rebuild the QSK board and try again.
However, when I was testing the Centurion with my Orion 1, I had keying
loop 1 connected and it was working?.for a short time. Something happened
when I was testing and suddenly the amp would no longer key. I think the
problem lies in the QSK board. I?m sure something failed there again.
But, when the amp stopped keying, so did the radio. If I have the keying
loop turned on, the radio will not key at all. If I turn the key loop off,
the radio keys fine. if I turn on keying loop #2, the radio keys fine. So
the radio keys fine except when I have key loop 1 turned on in the menu.
So my question is, have I damaged keying loop #1? If so, what do I need
to do to fix it?
thanks for all of the expert advice!
