You may be able to extend the life of the centurion fan you have by
these steps:
Is this fan a "Muffin" type fan, ie has multi blades and rotating motor
housing. What we are looking for on such a fan, is a round foil label
where the shaft bearing should anchor.
You want to use a squirt oiler loaded with Tri Flow, and make a pin hole
in the foil to admit the oil to the shaft bearing area. Have the foil
sticker facing upward as you oil the fan sitting on a work table.
After letting excess oil go where it may, wipe off excess and patch the
pin hole, and then run the fan off AC or DC whichever kind of motor you
have. This will work the oil into the places where it is needed. You
should get easier spinning of the rotor, and quieter running. Unless
you have a burr on the fan bearing, this should fix the noise and
improve the smoothness of running indefinitely.
Computer stores may stock the same rating fan as New stock.
In Houston, EPO has a wide assortment of fans; some are surplus from
industrial manufacturing in the area. EPO is on Fondren (west of 610
loop). They are south on Fondren from its crossing by the short tollway
that takes only toll tags, the one that runs east and west.
