I have an Omni VI Opt 3 and it's the best radio I have owned, particularly 
with a full compliment of filters.  I think you'll find it a world class CW 
radio. It doesn't have a fishfinder, but the fishfinder is more bling than 
function IMHO.

For a "beginner" radio, it's far more than adequate, yet intuitive to use 
effectively.
