I was using SM 230 connected to my Kenwood TS 870.
The resolution of SM 230 is quite crude in comparison to moderm standards.
I would suggest to look at LP-PAN from Telepostinc.
Curraently Larry is working on a version suitable for K3 and in the future on
versions suitable for other brands.
I believe an Orion has beeen modified (9 MHz IF) to work with a modified
version of LP-PAN.
