A series diode rated at the forward current of the supply {20 A or 30A @
50PRV} inserted in the pos side of the supply output to the battery is all
that's needed. Then adjust the voltage to account for the 0.7 volt drop
across the diode. Power all equipment after the diode or across the battery.
The diode prevents the battery from flowing back into the supply when the
power fails or the supply is turned off.

Hi Jim.
I noticed at the end of your post you mentioned about one of your
neighbors purchased a battery charging option for the linear supplies that
can be added to keep from blowing the output regulator. Where is that
available from. I don't have an Astron Catalog and was wondering if it is
from an aftermarket source or from Astron?
