I had a failure of a couple of ICs in my Centurion a few years ago. I could only guess that it was some kind of power line transient. Replaced them and that fixed it. But we live in a lightning prone area, so I also added a 220V surge protector into the AC line. You can find these on line for around $65. They're worth it. I also added a 6V zener diode on the 5V supply line driving the ICs to clamp any voltage spikes. No problems since then.
