Good morning John, Bob and Gary

Thank you very much for all your suggestions in relation to the problems I
am experiencing with my Omni Vl.

I did buy it to upgrade and play with but I had not expected to experience
this particular problem or problems.

I will proceed along the lines of all of your suggestions and let you know
how matters progress.

I do have a very nice brand new Rigol 100mHz scope that I bought to use in
my fault finding with the Omni. However it is still in its packaging (I
have had it about three months !) and given that I have never ever owned an
oscilloscope before (I am now 74) I am not quite sure how to use it and for
what so I have so far shied away. Of course the scope was much more
expensive than the Omni.

One particular issue does perplex me and that is how to test/check the two
boards (the PLL and the Osc/Mixer) that are in the screened compartment on
the upper left hand side as the two boards above have to be effectively
disconnected to remove the screen.

I know I could have bought at least one if not two IC7300's for the amount
of money I will eventually have spent on this Omni but what I am doing is
(or should be) so much more fun and so much more rewarding.

I also have been trying to buy an Omni Vl Plus in immaculate condition and
full working order but I have not yet been able to find anyone willing to
sell me one.

Thanks again for your help.
