I have an Omni 6 Opt 3 , it's a great radio. I'm basically a CW and RTTY
operator, I haven't made a SSB contact in years. I do enjoy the DX packet
cluster and controlling my radio with Logger32 and N1MM. I found that when
I moved to a cluster spot, I was somewhat off frequency, about 50 Hz. I
know that's not much but I'm rather anal about stuff like that. I realize
that the spotters radio might not be correct but it should be close. I
decided to do the WWV calibration as described in the Wiki. My radio does
not have a TXCO oven so my adjustment was at C31 on the Logic board. I
expected to have to move it a tiny bit but what I found is that C31 was not
smooth or linear at all and the frequency readout jumped around and even
small movements would unlock the PLL and the radio would go silent.
Turning the power off and on again would bring it back but then I would
have all kinds of strange stuff on the readout like 41 MHz or 2-E2.1... I
did a master reset and it went back to normal. It is not on frequency (30
to100 Hz off) and the PLL randomly drops out after being on for a while.

I only have a multi meter and I'm certainly not qualified or comfortable
doing board level work or calibration. I know I should have left well
alone but that's water over the dam now. Could C31 be faulty and causing
the problem or did I do more damage?

Any suggestions?
