I have a very early Paragon and I thought the PLL board or what ever controls
the frequency became unobtainum and also had solder problems. Mine quit and I
re-soldered the whole board on TenTec’s recommendation and it fixed the problem
and it has been running ever since. I do have newer rigs that I more frequently
use but the audio was just super for SWLing , but that is another phase of
radio that the computers killed.

Regarding the Paragon question, the main identity difference is that the
Paragon II says that on the front panel, and the number pad is in a white
field rather than the same gray as the other buttons. The Paragon II
included FM as standard (was an option on the original) and also allowed AM
transmit while the original only had AM receive. Perhaps the most
significant is that the control language was changed from a unique set of
commands that were supported only by a few logging programs to a set that is
a derivative of the Icom command set, so it works with more external
software.

It's my first post and questions already!
The green digit on the #544 is considerabley less bright than the other red
digits; almost useless in in a a bright room. I suspect this is not normal.
what is the bulb type as used for the OUTPUT in the 252M power supply?
What is the difference between a Paragon 1 and Paragon Model 2? How can you
identify one from another or tell the difference.
Thank you joe k7mks
