I received my new Ten-Tec Model 777 headset w/boom mic this past Friday. My
initial assessment is positive. Of course you have to realize I was using a
pair of $5.95 IPOD type headphones before I got the 777 set. Sound quality
from the headphones is very good on both CW and SSB. The impedance match is
much better than the aforementioned IPOD phones and I get the same audio level
in the phones with far less gain audio gain on the rig. Initial reports of
transmit audio with the DX mic element were good. There appears to be plenty
of room to tailor the audio to most people's liking using only the built in
adjustments of the Orion II. My only negative so far is the clamping force on
my head seems a bit high.
I have never owned a Heil set or the Yamaha set that has been recommended on
this reflector therefore my report is not intended to be a comparative report.
