I do not understand why Ten Tec built that amp with the limitation on power,
since the tubes are certainly capable of 2KW output (at least).

I have a QRO 2500DX. It is a super amp. Performs as advertised in all
respects.

You might note, however, that both the QRO and the Alpha require additional
cooling for "key-down" operation. QRO specifies additional cooling (another
fan) if you operate at 1.5 KW key down for longer than 30 minutes.
