The choice of 20m as an IF is not really a bad one, IMHO, although more
common would be 10 meters.
When it comes down to it, $100 including shipping for the 6m xverter kit
is a total bargain. The unit does what it should - decent receive
conversion, and 8 or so watts out on xmit.
Plenty of drive for an amp, or for decent openings (see below).
BTW, the inclusion of an attenuator pad INSIDE the unit makes it able to
hook directly to the output of ANY radio capable of putting out as little
as 5 watts (variable from 0.25 to 10 watts given a different resistor in
the attenuator pad). A BIG plus, IMHO. Best $100 I ever spent.
