Unless you get a charge out of running low power, about the only purpose
would be during the Field Day contest. You can lower the power to 5 watts,
work 5 stations and gain 100 bonus points then QRO. Keep in mind that the
Omni series is not a QRP type rig because the receiver in it will probably
use more than the transmitter even when running 5 watts!
If you are into energy saving and alternative power sources such as wind
or solar, then you need a different rig.
