May not be heat related since the rig is still on when you change bands and
the sound goes away.
The radio is still hot right?
So, next step would be to open the covers and check to see that all grounds
to each board are solid.
You will find coax connectors on the boards.
Reseat them.
Also make tight all board screws to ground.
Just un torque them a bit and make them tight again.
Remove and re seat all the molex connectors on all the boards.
Now, if that does not work you might try poking around the boards with a
wood stick and see if you can make the noise go away or show up.
If none of that works you will have to scope the rig while it is making the
noise.
You can then isolate the problem.
Would start at the antenna and work my way to the front end.
Sounds like a bad cap or oscillator.
One more thought check the little toroid chokes on the boards.
Make sure the are not touching another component.
