Wow...!
The band has been VERY kind to me on the occasion of the ARRL DX contest. I'm
actually managing to work 95% of what I'm hearing, practically effortlessly,
and have even cracked a pile-up, or two, some featuring noted denizens of Top
Band heard in the fray...
That rarely happens at VE3CUI...and I must confess, I am relishing it (but only
a little!).
The big surprise was working VP6DX, like he was just another station in the
event: indeed, the pile-up on Ducie was absolutely miniscule by comparison to
the previous week...
Too many other distractions on the band at the same time, I guess, for the
crowd to notice. The contest would surely be an opportune time to snag these
guys, who might otherwise be losing marginal callers from North America to the
usual competitive pile-up bedlam.
I'm looking forward to the second half to-night...good luck to all
participating.
