Seems to me ARRL and CW today are like "oil and water" they don't mix
well. What a shame.

Subject: Topband: Top band Civil war of the 1960s and 70s.
I bet many of you old time top band operators, like Herb, Tom, Barry and
others remember the problems we use to have trying to keep the DX window
clear of
the phone stations. One station in the Midwest said he had just as much
a
right to operate SSB in the window as anyone, and he was right of
course. There
was several others that thought the same, they forgot I guess that top
band was
a gentleman's band and we all should try to get along. It almost became
a war
between the DXers and the SSB ragchewers. As I remember it got really
bad at
times with swearing, name calling and deliberate QRM. It was really sad.
I do
hope our latest escapade does not develop into a war like we had back
then. We
should try to get across to the ARRL to treat 160 like any other band
and
separate the CW from the phone. I would hope the ARRL would pressure the
FCC to
do this. Jim Graham WØNFL
