Jim,
You can generate a large amount of Hydrogen quickly by electrolysis
if water. The problem is venting it off and pressurizing it into
some sort of container in a PURE form. Hydrogen mixed with air
(Oxygen) is EXTREMELY EXPLOSIVE! So, my advice is that unless you
have the facilities to handle Hydrogen production and storage DON'T
DO IT. Helium is very cheap if you go to a welding supply company.
You can rent a small cylinder for Helium for a few dollars. You
will, of course, have to buy the Helium.
