I have found it much easier to "outsource" my DX activities to a
third party with a big station in the countryside. Each month I
receive an invoice from my DX service provider showing the
amount due/paid (I have it set up so that he can automatically
bill my credit card) along with a report of all the DX I have
worked, the awards I have qualified for, and all the QSLs that
I have received. This way I get plenty of sleep and my tinitus isn't
aggravated by listening to static crashes all night. My neighbors like
me because I don't need any unsightly antennas that might bring
down property values and I don't interfere with their stereos.
Heck, I don't even own a radio anymore. No need for it. My DX
service provider does it all for me (even the DXCC applications).
Of course, he charges a premium for topband DX, but I find the
challenge of 160 meters worth the extra money it costs each
month.
