Bill, First off, did Amidon specify that the transformer would go down to 160 meters. If it had too few turns, it may not have had enough inductance. Check carefully and see if the toroid core cracked. Also, if they used any matching capacitors (to tune our reactance) as one may have blown. Another possibility is a short between windings! They often used teflon sleeving which is know to be porous and can arc through. GL and 73, Joe, W1JR |
