Greetings topbanders - I had a family emergency come up last
weekend so I didn't make to Jordan as planned. I am however, packing
my bags and will arrive in Amman by the weekend. It will probably
take a few days to get my license renewed but I plan to hit 80 & 160
once the paperwork is in hand.
Sid, K3SX, has graciously loaned me his MFJ 1025 noise canceling
unit so hopefully the local QRM won't be as big a hindrance as last
time. George JY9QJ has had the same experience from his QTH and I
thought you might find the recent note from him of interest:
At the moment I am almost every day cqing on 160 before my sunrise.
Conditions are not very good, I worked so far maybe four stations
from NA, many days I do not even hear Europeans. Additionally we got
Radio Amman at 1836 which is 612khz x 3 and it makes life hard.
(end)
Based on my experience last year, the local noise (hash) never
really dropped below S9. Let's hope the conditions are better the
next couple of weeks.
I will have access to my Hotmail e-mail account from Jordan so I can
provide updates as warranted.
