The remedy is to use a foolproof design -- The binocular core types are as
close to this as you can get, and they work as well or better than
toroid-wound transformers.

The transformer for a Flag/Pennant show on W8JI.com and also in the latest
ON4UN Low Band Dxing book using 3 binocular cores can be assembled perfectly,
including weatherproofing and connectors, in less that 30 mins AND the parts
from Amidon including the teflon tubing and enameled wire if you need it are
less than their 10.00 minimum.
Tom's photo on his web site and the brief details in the book could'nt be
simpler...
And the transformers work very well ... but per the guidance in the book,
not a bad idea to do a short term with them with a simple resistor and
impedance
bridge ... (hell just VOM'ing the resistors aint a bad idea either)
