It has been 20 months since VP6DX. I can personally say that a very high
emphasis, with much thought, planning, preparation and ultimately execution,
was placed on accomplishing what Dave is lamenting did not happen with
recent expeditions.
It takes all of the above mentioned, coupled with individual operator
knowledge, experience, and desire, to make Topband and 75/80 Meter Q's to
the DIFFICULT locations in limited time and tiny propagation windows.
One of the goals of VP6DX was to provide the opportunity for such contacts
to be made, even at the expense of quantity of Q's to more easily worked
locations. I believe that the game plan was successful, and hopefully all
future DXpeds will attempt to adhere to that MO.
