Eric:
What's wrong with reducing the number of radials by making each one in the
form of a Y, branching at the point where the spacing is less than .03?
I did this one time using telephone 'duplex' wire, pulling the conductors
apart part way out, and it seemed to work OK judging by a set of
measurements somewhat like Peter made. The radials were only about 100 feet
long, because the vertical part of the antenna was less than 100 ft high,
and lying on the ground the radials resonated below the desired frequency
anyway.
What do you consider the resonant frequency of a dipole (two opposed radials
physically quarter wave radials) is likely to be?
Useful posting Peter.
