As far as the wire size goes, 1kw into a 50-ohm load translates into less
than 4.5 amps per Ohm's Law, so the wire doesn't have to be too large.
I'd be more concerned with two other items:
1) Breaking strength of the wire.
2) Weight of the wire.
I'm sure there are veteran 160m balloonists on the reflector who will
supply you with the correct answers to all of your questions.
