The visible aurora was quite pretty here last night
and seemed to be directly overhead.
The S meter read S0 on the main antenna - it is
usually about S5 on SSB bandwidth at night. The
beverages appeared to be disconnected! I could just
detect W8JI working Europe at one point - usually Tom
is quite loud - and he was the only signal audible on
the band.
I had always assumed that part of my S5 noise floor
was local - it appears that is not the case.
Interesting, but very unproductive for DX!
