howdy folks,
all those addressed in the cc area received your e-mails.
w3gh(bob), that answers your question regarding who i worked. you can
also include ve1zz (again) w4zv (again) ww2y, n4rj, n4cfl, w2up, w3bgn, and
k4ql. i
also heard you calling but guess you didnt hear me when i answered (go
steelers).
for all those others who tried with no luck, sorry, however we will try
again. i just
could not separate out all of the signals. also that and the fact that one
second a
call wud be there only to dissapear completely and then reappear a few seconds
later.
boy is this band strange, guess i have a lot to learn on topband.
believe my next project is going to have to purchase a noise filter (i
already know
what to get) and then try and erect some sort of separate receive antenna.
hate to ask
this but any suggestions (boy i can see the replies coming. I do have room to
string
about a 1,000 ft length of wire from my roof to a water tower but cant use too
heavy of
a wire. also, all those different types of wire arent available here so i have
to order
from states and have them shipped, etc. makes for delays. same thing for
capacitors,
resistors, etc.
fyi, for all of you who missed my blurb on the reflector re my xmit antenna,
it is
what i call a SS/GD vertical special (design by N6SS and all the hard stuff by
A92GD).
its a steel pole 44ft up from the top of my 12 foot roof with 20ft of linear
loading,
two large propeller type radials feeding their own separate coils which in turn
are
connecting to a tuning coil coming from the linear loading assembly. my simple
mfj-949e
shows 1:1 swr from 1825 thru 1840 so looks like something is working right.
output
power is 300watts coming from an ameritron al-811.
if swrs are what they read then think i will bypass the tuner and try and
increase
power next time.
exactly when the next time will be is unknow. my work week is sat thru wed so
have to
be at the mines in the morning by 0430utc. cud possibly be on air around
0300utc but if
condx are like last night the window was
much earlier.
anyway, bottom line is dont give up.
73's and happy new year
A92 "GIT DOWNNNN"
Bob
PS: Please get the word out on all the clusters, whatever, to please QSL only
to my
QSL Manager at the following addres: K1SE, PO BOX 685, MANASSAS PARK, VA.
22113-0685.
Do not send any QSL cards to me directly because they only get sent back to my

If any cards have been sent to ARAB then good luck, I have received only one
