Guys,
Earl's points are quite valid. Anything will work. To work better there
must be a topcoat on the shortened tower.
To perhaps make myself a little more clear with respect to resonance.
I've never used a resonant grounded tower on topband. The frequency
chosen was for components on hand. My experience in shunt feeding towers
has been successful with short towers that appear electrically much
taller or longer in length.
