Hi Bob,
> We passed along the trophy over pizza and beer. What a concept!
Intra/Inter Club awards do sound nice, think these were more common years ago.
Peer competition has it's own rewards.

That seems to be a big part of the equation, getting folks to sponsor awards,
particularly in the LP categories, where the bulk of the participants play. I
realize that committing $50 to $100 for years is not something everyone can or
wants to do. I've suggested on CQ-Contest that a pool be established so folks
could contribute as best they could.
Even if only a couple per cent sent in a few bucks or Euros every year there
could be a well funded pool for awards. Of course, I realize that puts an
additional burden on the contest sponsor's record keeping and awarding/shipping
process.
After looking at the growth of "major" contests in this months NCJ (CW is alive
and well), it seems that this would be a workable option.
I tend to follow categories that interest me and which I compete, SOLP and QRP.
Like most others follow my friends scores.
