Used the R-390 in Vietnam from mid '64 to the end of '67 (some of us had
a hard time getting out!). All the technical issues (IMD, dynamic
range, noise floor, etc) aside, it is a military radio, intended to be
used in a Set and Forget mode. It's not fun to scan the band with it.
Selectivity isn't nearly as good as the -A4 for ham use either. Last
use was from Bien Hoa on a MARS teleypte link with AK1AIR at Elmendorf,
and I don't think we changed the frequency more than once.
Now back to NAQP ... hope everyone shows up on 160 tonight.
