Those who may have worked VA3DZZ during last week's CQ 160m contest may be
interested to know that this was Rod Newkirk, CQ Amateur Radio Hall of Famer,
who wrote the "How's DX - by Rod Newkirk, W9BRD" column in QST for 3 decades.
(This was the first item I looked for in QST as a teen-ager interested in DX, in
the late 1940's.)
I met rod this morning at the weekly breakfast of the local QCWA group. He said
he was on 160 for a limited time during the contest, giving contacts to locals,
and looking for old friends, but found few. A great guy!
