Hi fellows topbanders,
I just want to share my "once in a lifetime experience" during solar eclipse
on august 11th.
As Luis IV3PRK described in His message, it was very interesting making QSO
right at noon and especially in summer time, when QRN used to be very high
in this part of Europe.
I made 28 QSO, 6 on SSB, rest CW with 14 DXCC countries.
First started at 10.20 UTC with OE6BAG with 559 send and 579 rcvd.
On SSB EA3JE was strongest 59+, but He did not reply to my call.
Last QSO with DK6WL at 11.30 UTC.
I guess TA2BK is the longest distance, same as IV3PRK.
------
ON4UBA/B beacon on 1831.5 has been strong during all the time of eclipse.
I´ve stopped on it few times:
10.20 NIL
10.28 559
10.32 589
10.41 599
11.30 NIL
-------
Equipment used: FT-1000MP, PA 400W and antenna 20 mtrs vertical with
capacitance hat and 80 buried radials.
See You on TOPBAND.
