Thanks for all the replies! First of all: K8MFO, W7LR, VE3CUI and WD5R are
very good qsl-ers. Don (K8MFO) seems to qsl almost every contact. I got
two QSLs from W7LR (for the same qso) and 3 from VE3CUI and 2 from WD5R
who responded directly, even though my qsl came via the bureau.
On the other hand: over the years I´ve worked quite a few W6, W7and W0
stns and the reply rate (via bureau) is very low. I remember once, it was
in april long time ago with a very high K and A index the band suddenly
opened on a skewed path to W7 and I wkd 6 stns in W7. Remember, this was
in april when the band normally is dead to W7. I got two replies via the
bureau (W0ZV and W7AWA). For me it was something of a special event that I
would have liked QSLs for. Obviously this what not the case for most of
the W7s.
Of course I´m not a 100% qsl-er myself. I don´t qsl every qso. But I reply
every card that comes via the bureau. (Even from DL after a contest qso,
because if he sent me one, he´d probably want one in return).
I qsl "new ones" and qso´s that are rare in one or other way directly with
SASE. Even with SASE the QSL percentage from the USA who do not reply is
too big!
Someone mailed me and said "I have no time to qsl". That´s rubbish. I get
a pile of cards every month and it takes me abou 1-2 hours to reply the
cards (from DL, 9A etc.). If you have time to be on the air you should
also have time to qsl.
PS I´m not going to join Lotw. My qth is in a rural area and the telecom
has not yet succeeded in broadbanding that area (the US guys might reflect
on this matter - the rest of the world is not USA)
