Conditions were pretty good, and I got on the air at 9:30 PM Friday night,
after a date with a really cute girl, and operated all night. The second
night- no date. I started at 1650 local time and operated until 1:40 AM

That was in 1965 using a Viking Ranger at 65 watts input and a NC-105 receiver
to a low dipole strung around the yard, with the permission of my landlord. I
was a senior at Union College in Schenectady, NY. Don't know what the scoring
formula was back then. The report was RST and serial number.
Do you see many calls you recognize? How many also operated the contest this
past weekend. I was using my second (NY) call (yes, we were allowed two back
then)- WB2LNA . This was not my first 160M contest, as I had been active on
160M since 1957. W0AIH gave me a report of 559146 at 3:42 AM EST, the first
night of the contest. No one else I worked, even the second night, had worked
more than 130 contacts, and half the stations I worked sent a serial #
indicating they had worked fewer stations than me.
Oh yes, she wouldn't go out with me again for a couple of weeks after I
brought her home so early that Friday night.
