The parasitic array here is new this winter... I am using PB 12vdc DPDT, 30
amp, potted relays (bad decision) to switch each vertical to/from the
coax/loading-coil... my thought was that potted relays would reduce contact
oxidation over the summer which has been a minor problem with the open frame,
110vac relays I have used for years... also, I have always been worried about
someone getting into a relay box while the power was on..
Well, Ol Murph the Surf rides high here... As soon as the temp gets into the
single digits (which is often in michigan winter) the relays become
unreliable... they may switch, or they may not... so the moral is... never
use relays that are potted, cause you can't see/fix whatever is going on....
